When it seems like the teacher is unable to make any progress with your playing, then it's time to let him go and find somebody else. Results should be apparent even after just two or three lessons. There should have been an improvement in at least one area of your playing. Talking to him first would help though, to see if it's just his method. He shouldn't waste your valuable time and money, nor make excuses along the way. It's easy to drop a voice teacher, but have good reason for doing it.
