Most people associate lanyards with an ID badge holder. Professionals across all types of occupations secure their ID badge holder to the end of a lanyard. Typically, lanyards may be colored rope that is usually dispensed by the HR department. But the lanyard can be used for more than just a way to hold an ID badge holder. Here are a few ways anyone can use a lanyard to create convenience.

A lanyard is any type of string or rope that can be used to hold small items like employee identification. Some people wear their lanyard around their neck, while others prefer a wrist type. Strings can be made of different materials. Some lanyards are nylon, while others are made from decorative ribbon and still others are made with strong wire and beads.

A lanyard can be used in a variety of ways besides that of securing an employee ID or credential of some sort. While this is still the most common use for the lanyard, we can see that these handy items are beneficial both in and out of the workplace. Lanyards can be great tools for students and teachers, for campers, skiers, and anyone who needs to hold small items with ease.

A lanyard provides a way for both men and women to keep necessary items nearby. Designs on lanyards are made to compliment both genders and provide professionals a way to contain their business cards, conference identification, and employee identification. It is helpful for conference attendees to bring a lanyard along to any conference. The lanyard can provide an alternative way to display a name badge so the attendee does not have to stick a name badge onto their clothing.

Student's can use a lanyard to hold their student identification as well as their car or house keys. Wearing keys in such a way is convenient for the new driver and also allows them to keep track of their belongings. When keys are hung on the end of a lanyard, they are less likely to get lost in the business of life. Students can also use a lanyard to carry a whistle, just like their physical education coach. While they likely cannot wear the whistle at school, they can put on their whistle lanyard for the walk home. This is ideal for children as a way to maintain personal safety.

Children attending camps or field trips can also benefit from wearing a lanyard that can display their name and important information. On field trips, the lanyard can display the child's name, school and teacher's name. A small card can also give instructions for a child as to what steps to take should they become lost (such as check in with security).

These are just a few of the uses for lanyards. If you wear any sort of identification for work, this is a necessary tool that can be dressed up with beads or decorative ribbon. However, if you need a little more convenience for carrying keys or other small items, then purchasing several lanyards may be the way to go.
