Since many years; multiple belt system is being used. The features of multiple belts and pulley system comprises of a formula which develops the linear equations of motion for multiple belt systems. Lots of people, either because for the love of it or because they are not financially well, prefer to change these belts of their cars on their own instead of going to the nearby auto technician or service station and incur some costs. For such people, serpentine belts are more useful as these belts can be easily changed and replaced manually without the help of a professional mechanic. The basic reason is that the different engine component of belts doesn't have to be taken off. There is only a single belt that needs to be removed and replaced. But, as one more added edge, these serpentine belts are of a good durability and do not break often. Thus, the replacement of these belts is not a big issue for the vehicle drivers. Once in a blue moon only, they need to accomplish this task if they take proper and good care of their car and also its mechanical parts.
But, like everything, these serpentine belts also have some negative property about them. When these belts do break up, the car does not have any power provided to the engine components which are driven by the belt. This could be some problem for the driver and require labor. However, these belts usually wear away slowly and thus indicating about its replacement. A humming sound or immense noise indicates the replacement. Therefore, the vehicle owner could easily recognize the requirement for the belt to be replaced.
