When the economy isn t doing so well, neither are we with saving money, or paying our bills. When on a tighter budget it makes everything a little more difficult. One thing that seems to go up quite often is gas prices. These can never be predicted, and what the future holds for us we re not sure. Although, one thing i m sure of is that we d like to save more money on this when possible. So, if you re looking for ways to start saving money today, consider a few of these tips below:

One trip: It is a good idea to try to keep your driving to a minimum. Not only is this good for the environment, but it s good for your wallet as well. So, for example if you get out of work, get groceries and run your errands right after. This will keep you from going in and out and wasting that extra gas you don t need to.

Credit card: Before you skip this part, keep reading. A gas credit card is a great way to save money! You can save up to 10 on your purchases at the pump. If you use a credit card already, why not use one that saves you money? Once you ve reached $20 in savings, you can put that towards your monthly bill, cash or get gift cards.

Car pool: Car pooling is a great way to help out the environment and help with you and your partners wallet. Driving one week to work, and then having someone else switch with you can really save the two of your money, and wear and tear on your vehicle.

Maintenance: Keeping up with the regular maintenance on your vehicle is very important. Getting routine oil changes, air filters, and simple things like making sure there is enough air in your tires can make the difference of a good gas mileage and a poor one. So, when was the last time you went and got your car checked out? You may need to make an appointment if your sticker is outdated on your car!

Highways: They say that driving on the highway allows you to get a better gas mileage. For example, when they give the gas mileage of a vehicle the highway is usually higher. This is because you don t have lights to stop at, a lot of bumper to bumper traffic, and you re maintaining the same speed the whole time. So, when you can try taking the highway instead of the longer and slower back roads.

As you can see, there are quite a few different things you can doto help save on your gas mileage. Although, I must say that getting a gas credit card is really the best way to do so. You will instantly save money right at the pump each time you fill up. If you fill up at $50.00 a week you will save $5 a week being $260 a year! So make some changes in the way you drive and see if you can keep more money in your wallet and get a better gas mileage.
