Pool owners are often faced with a delicate predicament when it comes to caring for their pools. Many people mistakenly believe that pools use significant amounts of water. However, pools do not use large amounts of water, but they do store large amounts of water. Thanks to a pool's filtration and sanitation system, pool water is basically recycled. However, there are circumstances that can lead to pool water loss. By following some simple tips, pool owners can do their part to save water while still maintaining their pool.

Guidelines for Pool Owners to Follow -

By following some simple guidelines, pool owners can ensure their pool is maintained properly while also conserving the greatest amount of water possible.

The Importance of Topping Up -

Occasionally, pools will need to topped up to ensure adequate water levels. Adequate water levels are important to the proper and efficient functioning of pool equipment. In the event the filtration system does not operate as it should, the pool water can became contaminated as the ph levels can become either too low or too high. This can lead to significant water usage because the contaminated pool water will need to be replaced. Topping up of the pool can be minimised by preventing excessive splashing of water, minimising evaporation and by ensuring that all of the equipment is well maintained and is free of leaks.

Regular Manual Maintenance is Crucial -

While filtration systems are efficient at keeping a pool's water clean, regular manual maintenance is also important. Testing the chemical balance of the water, taking water samples, running the filter regularly, cleaning the skimmer box, and cleaning cartridge filters are all part of regular manual maintenance activities that should be carried out on a routine basis.

Ensure Equipment is Working Properly -

If a pool's equipment has a leak or is not working properly, this can result in water loss or contamination. A pool repair may be necessary to fix leaks in a pool or its equipment. Even though water loss due to a leak may seem minimal, over the course of a year this water loss can be substantial. If pool equipment is outdated, pool renovations may be required to replace antiquated equipment. Installing newer, more up-to-date equipment can help pool owners save water.
