The Norwegian art came in to existence in the nineteenth century. Till then the Art scene in Norway was not famous and had been imported from other countries. There was no importance had given to the Norwegian art in the past due to the Danish rule.
There are few renowned people famous for their art skill. Some of them are Johan Christian Dahl who is known as the “father of Norwegian landscape painting” he later moved to western Norway but was the first person to introduce the Norwegian art to the world. Another such personal is Johannes Flintoe, who was a Danish-Norwegian painter and had done numerous paintings on folk costumes. He even conducted a school for spreading the art of drawing by starting schools and educating the children. Adolph tidemand studied in Italy but settled at last in Dusseldorf. He used to visit Norway occasionally and in such an occasion he painted the Norwegian Farm Culture. Out of the various paintings done by him the most successful one was Haugianerne which was painted in the year of 1852. But after the onset of freedom to the Norwegians the skills in Art began to expand and various artists were born to help spread the Norwegian art. This provided Norway an identity in the field of art. Such famous persons who spread the Norwegian Art included Kitty Kielland who was a female artist who studied under Gude. She inspired all other rising female artists in Norway.
Norwegian Taste of design:
Folk art and Knitted design are the motivation of new phrase in Norway. This individuality first put together a turn at the beginning of the years and established a staying power. New ideas were born when the paintings regarding folk, and other ornamentations were revealed. In order to explain the taste of design in Norway one can take the example of an art named “The Scream” created by a Norwegian artist. This art shows a tormented figure standing below a red sky. Most of the people viewing this art says that this picture depicts the feeling of hopelessness of an individual towards the modernization of the country. But there are few who declare that the art shows act of mental illness. Different people explain the art in different ways. There are certain ideals that the red sky may have symbolized the weather conditions at the period of the creation of the art. But as days passed by there was a volcanic eruption and the sky appeared red due to the effect of the volcano. Some said that the artist was not able to depict things and hence the painting does not have anything to do with the volcanic eruption.
Certain other personals like Rolf Groven who painted in certain Figurative styles. His paintings have been used in many schoolbooks in Norway. Per Inge Bjolo was a specialist in creating sculpture and used many things like rubber and glass to make his masterpiece. Marianne is a contemporary artist whose arts are widely sols even now. She has an unique style of combining art and photography.
