Love them or loathe them, without these essential little pieces of sprung metal in the office, there would be no way of keeping those important papers, letters or memos together.
From small size, just big enough to hold a few postage stamps together, to the large ones which have the capacity of clipping together a few small binary star systems, it doesn't matter which size you use, they all have one thing in common. And to open the larger sizes, you will need the strength of a body builder.
They bite! And anyone who has had the misfortune of having to use one of these items at some time in their life will know what I am saying, and have a story to recollect. It may be you have nipped a bit of skin in the clip itself, or gouged a scratch on the skin, whichever one it is you will know it hurt.
My personal belief is they are manufactured in such a way as to catch the wary, like a slavering hound from Hell waiting in the darkness of the blind alley to devour the unsuspecting traveler, these innocuous little items just lie around, waiting to pounce. And boy, when they do, ouch.
But seriously, these little clips are so useful, and not just for holing sheets or reams of paper together. Having carried out a little research, and using a bit of trial and error, There are several other uses for them, some very practical, others, well...
What about the errant cable for your mobile phone charger, as soon as it is unplugged, off the desk and onto the floor. Super hero binder clips to the rescue and clip it to the edge of the desk.
What about using one for the end of the toothpaste tube, excellent idea if you don't want to buy one of those gadgets specially made for this, if you have a clip loafing around not in use, make it work for its keep.
In fact, there are too many uses to mention in a short space; however I shall have to mention here MY favorite use for them, after many years of arduous testing and research. Tie a brightly colored ribbon about a meter long to the clip handle, and clip it to the back of your colleague's jacket, it makes a wonderful tail, and great for a laugh. But do make sure they have a sense of humor first.
