Guitar tabs are set up in the form of a staff composed of six horizontal lines, one representing each string of the guitar. The lowest line is the low E string and the top line represents the high E string. One these lines you will see various numbers printed - a "0" indicates that an open string should be played and other numbers show you which fret to press. The line on which the number is printed tells you which string to use. If there are multiple numbers printed in a vertical column, this means that all notes should be played at once to form a chord.
