There are just 10 days remaining until the 15th of August, Officially recognised as World Youth Day (WYD) which this year is being celebrate in Madrid for the 2nd time, the first was in 1989.
WYD is a celebration of the Catholic faith, but its message is relevant to everyone and all are welcome. It is aimed as the name suggests, at youths and Spanish Officials are promising a "fiesta," with the traditional opportunities for prayer, friendship, music and education.
It is reported that nearly 400,000 youths have registered for the event and it has been confirmed that Pope Benedict XVI will be in attendance.

Pre-registration for the event means that you will get priority to available seating at the papal events but it is not a requisite as anyone is welcome on any day without registration.
It is estimated that 1.5 million people will be in attendance for the six-day annual event.
The event plans to out do all those before it after organizers announced that this years event will be the first to have its own dedicated radio station and web-based TV station.
It has received over 35,000 applications to volunteer to help at the event of which 22,000 are to be selected to join over 500 staff.
