There are a lot of great credit cards out there to choose from. We can save money on gas with a gas credit card, get a business credit card to benefit our business or we can even get an airline credit card to help us get free flights and save us money while traveling. The cards are unlimited, but there are certain things you want to look out for before you apply for the first card you see.

Interest rate: First of all, you want to get a card with a low interest rate. I’d say anything under 15 is pretty good these days. Although, you may find cards that go all the way up to 30 ! Avoid these cards as much as possible and don’t settle for one, especially if you’re not good about paying off your balances in full each month.
Rewards: Only get an airline card that rewards you, otherwise you might as well just stick to your everyday or emergency credit card. There are several airline cards out there that can help you get free flights for spending a certain amount of money! A lot of people don’t go on vacation just because flights are expensive, so if you can get a free one, why not take advantage of it? Not to mention, each time you do take a flight, you will get a mile on your card for each mile you fly. The more you fly the more you miles you can get on your card which means even more rewards!
Discounts: A lot of cards give discounts as well. You may find that your card can help you get a better price on a rental car or even insurance on the car. You can also qualify for discounts on hotels, theme parks and overall traveling! When there is a discount that is being offered, we should really take advantage of it and get the most out of it!
Fees: Another thing you want to take a close look at are the fees. There are a lot of credit cards out there than can break you just because of the fees. Whether there is an annual fee, a late payment fee, an inactivity fee or a fee for going over your credit limit, they’re all unnecessary sometimes! If you can avoid any fees at all, I would go that route. The one fee that you definitely want to do without is the annual fee. Why should you have to pay money just to use their card every year? You shouldn’t!
