Alright, so I want you to do me a favor and picture this...

You work hard for months, full time. You, your band mates, everyone. You eat poorly, keep the traveling to a minimum, and save every last penny you get. You all decide it s time to take your hard earned cash to a recording studio and get all your tracks laid down and recorded. You work tirelessly to prepare, and after everything is said and done... Your Single/EP/CD isn t quite what you hoped it would be.

Sounds like fun, right? WRONG!

You just wasted your hard earned time, your hard earned MONEY, and you re left with a mediocre byproduct of that. Isn t that just depressing?

Why is that? You worked hard, right? You put in all your heard earned money for this recording studio time right?

Well, this isn t too far from commonplace in many recording studios. The majority of musicians are in a huge hurry to just get their music out there and have people listening to it and loving it, and don t properly spend time to research who will they will be working on their art, their passion, and spending their money to do so with!

Now, picture the other scenario, you getting in touch with a good recording studio:

You all save all your money and work tirelessly to do so. Every dime and penny going into this CD. You all decide you should find a recording studio and agree upon it being the place you choose to work with. So, you research. You see they ve got some credible people they ve worked with, and you like what they did with them. You go in to see what they re about.

You like it. They re cool guys who have good work ethic and are fun to be around. The price is a bit more than you were hoping, but you all agree it s worth it. A few weeks later of putting in early days and late nights and your CD is finished, and you couldn t be more proud!

This. This is what being in a band is about. Making great music that you and your friends are extremely proud of and know that other people will also love it. I personally didn t get into music to make music that other people don t like(although I know a few people who are perfectly fine with other people not liking their music. Some even prefer it)

I m not sure about you, but the second scenario sounds much, much more preferable to me. I mean, why would I choose to waste my time with a bad, expensive studio, when I can put just a bit more effort into it and get a great studio for the same price sometimes even cheaper.

All it really takes to be in the second example rather than the first is a bit of research. Hopefully you ll be in the second scenario!
