Everyone wants to make sure that their new pet learns to be well-behaved and obedient, especially if it is a tiny newborn puppy. That is when we go for the best dog training books we can find to help us learn to respect and love our pets the way we should. It is important to realize that your pet is not a human and should not be treated like one, even if you are very tempted.

It is important to let a pet know that it is loved and cared for but not in charge. Dogs who think they are in charge become confused when they do not get the response they are looking for from their owners. Confused dogs can be dangerous.

There are a few tips that all pet owners should know that can be found in dog training books. One is that you should always stay consistent with the brand of dog food that you use. When you switch your brand of food frequently, it can cause your pet to have an irritable stomach.

They may be struck with diarrhea or vomiting and can experience painful cramping. Although these are extreme side effects to switching foods, it is also one of the very reasons a pet should not be fed human food from the dinner table.

Make sure your bigger dogs are getting exercise and are not kept inside all the time. Bored and restless dogs can become uncontrollable and anxious. Anxious dogs are irritated and do not play well with others.

There are books, videos and television shows that can help any dog owner learn to love and respect their pet for its unique qualities, skills and talents. Each one will have its own level of intelligence and skill. Certain breeds are better at some things than others, while it is often also how the dog is trained that makes the difference. Buying dog training books on the exact breed you own is an excellent way to find out everything you can about how to care for, feed, train and treat your pet.

If you have a problem with a dog that poops in the house or sneaks food from human plates, you are at a place where you need some help training that pet not to behave those ways. They are usually smart enough to grasp the most basic of tasks, like sitting, staying and the word no. The pet must understand that you are the one in charge at all times-the leader of the pack. Once a pet respects you as the dominator, it will be more apt to respect and obey you.
