There are two distinct categories of paint grenades: explosive and “splatter”. The first category refers to the grenades that use a small charge (in most cases, smaller than a firecracker) to break open a paper shell and spew out the paint “enemies”. Most likely, these grenades are lit by using a fuse or a pull-pin. The “splatter” grenades push out the paint in all directions, simple as that. In the following we will present 10 steps regarding how to make a paintball grenade:

1. Cut a length of tubing – any length you prefer, 4-5 inches are recommended for best shapes. After that, fold the last 1/2” over itself and zip tie it together as hard as you can.

2. Draw about 2 oz. of paint for the syringe – make sure that you secure the tube as far up the nozzle as possible. Assure that you are pinching the nose around the nozzle so that it will not leak. Be certain that the push part of the syringe is braced against your stomach or chest. This is because once the paint reaches the latex tube, it will be pressurized and want to shoot the plunger right out of the syringe.

3. Inserting the paint – push it into the grenade tube and hold it using your hand and also make sure that you keep pressure at all times on the plunger. Keep pinching the tube’s end against the nozzle in order to avoid any leakage.

4. Clamping the tube – using your other hand, clamp the grenade tube at the syringe nozzle.

5. Another syringe – prepare a second syringe of paint and plug it snug into the tube. At this point, be certain that you brace the plunger against a solid object.

6. Filling the grenade – now, release the clamp and push the extra paint into your grenade. Repeat the process until you obtain the desired size.

7. Clamp again – after you fill in the desired quantity, clamp it one last time and grab a washer. You now need to fold the grenade’s end over itself in the same way as you were going to zip tie it. Next, wedge the washer over the folded end of the tube.

8. Pin insertion – after clamping, push a cotter pin through the fold of the tube and over the washer. You need to make sure that the tube is stretched over the cotter pin, which should be pushing against the washer.

9. Clamp release- you will now need to release the clamp and happily, the grenade should not leak or go off. If none of these situations occur, pull the tube through the washer and pin like a belt buckle in order to tighten it up and obtain a little extra tube pas the pin so that it will not slide out.

10. DONE – your paint grenade is now fully functional. As an addition, you should play with how tight you make the washer to fit your style in terms of how force is needed to set it off.

There you have all there is to know in order to build a paintball grenade. Have fun building it and most important, using it.
