In the legal profession, the largest percentage that makes up the legal system is the solicitors which quantify to almost more than 100,000 practitioners in America. Solicitors are also lawyers who work as professionals dealing with legal matters and problems that concern people and their rights. Most solicitors who have their own offices require clients to visit them while those who still need training and experience present their clients on court hearings and this is only where the client and the solicitor meet.

Being an attorney and at the same time a solicitor require the lawyer to undergo special training and experience that can deal with many types of corporate cases and services. There are those who do private practice, in house practice, involvement with local governments, crown prosecution service, and government legal service. Almost three quarters of lawyers are specializing in private practice wherein the greatest majority of training contracts are situated. For those who are focused in private practice, these solicitors are usually those who work for legal firms or as independent practitioners. Law firm practitioners are those that are usually bind with partnerships.

The next types of lawyers are the in house lawyers. These are the lawyers who are privately employed by organizations or businesses. They only work for the interest of the organization like employees and take orders from their employers whenever necessary.

The local government solicitors are those who are working for the local government and local authorities and their role is to take care of the local government’s programs that involve childcare, anti social behavior, education, and housing standards. They may also handle larger projects like major land developments.

Solicitors working for crown prosecution service, on the other hand, are those who help the Government Department’s criminal prosecution projects. Lastly, solicitors who work for the Government Legal Service are the barristers who work for some of the major departments of the government. Their profession may range from small regulatory bodies to bigger departments and may involve responsibilities like advising departments, litigation, and drafting.

The types of work of solicitors are always dependent on their practice areas that are mastered and the size of the employers who are paying for the service. To be successful in this field, choosing the firm on which to work with is a very important factor. The work experience especially the solicitor’s client base is a very significant factor when it comes to determining the capacity of the solicitor.

Some solicitors may choose to work for city firms or high street firms where they can practice what they learn from business laws. The solicitors may operate as members of the personnel in a city department or be involved with a structured team whose members are also involved with individual practices.

In high street firms, solicitors will also be working with different city departments that are located on different cities but only two solicitors are accepted by the magistrate to represent their clients in court. The solicitors usually represent clients that have issues involving local businesses, probates, divorces, and other business matters.
