Reaching a point where it seems like you just can't lose any weight at all no matter what you try? Feeling frustrated and feel like throwing in the towel? Don't! There could be a very simple reason why the weight will not come off and when you resolve it you'll start to lose weight.

Are you eating too much?

Oftentimes you don't realize just how many calories a food or drink has, so you ingest a lot more calories than you intend to. Make a list of what ever you eat throughout the day so that you can keep track and calculate how many calories it adds up to. A quick and easy method to determine the number of calories you should be eating is to multiply your current weight by 10. This will provide you with a ballpark figure of the amount of calories you should consume to keep your present bodyweight. Of course this is only a general figure and it depends on how physically active you are and how fast or slow your metabolism is. To lose a pound per week you'll need to reduce the amount of calories you consume by 500 daily, that will create a 3500 calorie deficit weekly which will equal approximately 1 pound of weight loss. In other words if you need to consume 2000 calories to keep up your body weight you want to get rid of 500 of those calories in order to lose weight.

You Aren't Eating Enough

Believe it or not, eating too Little also can stall your weight loss. Whenever you drastically cut back your calories you'll initially start to lose weight, however your body makes up for the decrease in calories by slowing its metabolism thus as time goes on it will become increasingly more difficult to lose weight. Once again, figure out how many calories you're eating every day and if necessary you might have to bump it up a little bit. However, don't bump it up by consuming junk food. Instead, opt for higher-calorie healthy foods, like drizzling some olive oil on your salad, or eating an ounce or two of nuts for a snack. And eat smaller meals more frequently, rather then 3 substantial meals throughout the day. It'll keep your body's fat burning systems operating more smoothly and efficiently.

You don't get enough physical activity

Diet and excercise combine to make a very effective combination for weight loss, it allows you to avoid needing to reduce your calorie consumption to drastically while helping you to burn off more fat. If you can lower your calorie intake by about five hundred calories a day, As well as burn off five hundred calories a day working out, you're on track to easily lose as much as 2 lbs per week.

Your Diet is Poor Quality

What type of foods are you eating daily? Are you consuming mostly whole, organic foods, or do you generally consume processed foods that are high in fat, sugar and sodium? Naturally, your weight loss will be much easier if you feed your body good quality foods. Your body needs the right vitamins and nutrients to run smoothly and burn fat more effectively so be sure to eat well-balanced nutritious foods to enhance your weight loss.

Medical Reasons

If you still can't lose weight even though you have addressed all of the preceding concerns, there could be some medical reason for your sluggish weight loss problems. Two that come to mind are an under-active thyroid gland, or some medication that you might be taking that's making weight loss difficult. Both of these situations could be interfering with your ability to lose weight in which case you should talk with your physician to find out what he or she suggests.

Just don't get discouraged and lose hope and give up. Just because the weight doesn't come off easily it doesn't mean that you won't be able to reach your weight loss goals, you just need a little more determination and perseverance than the average person.
