Nearly all of us have something in common whenever we make a decision to lose weight: we want to lose it quick. Quick fat loss is not always the best way to go, mainly because a few of the techniques used for rapid weight reduction are unhealthy or hard to keep doing for an extended period of time.

Having said that, there are some key things that are known to help speed up weight loss without damaging your health:

Drink plenty of water

Drinking lots of water is an excellent way to help one's body burn more fat, as well as release excess water you may have been retaining as well. Health professionals recommend 8 glasses of water each day and even more on days that are hot, or if you perspire excessively.

Do not eat too much sugar

To lose 1 lb you need to either lessen your calorie intake by 3500 calories, or burn them off through physical activity such as exercise. Performing a combination of both to create a calorie deficit has been shown to be very effective. So, if you lowered your calories by 250 daily (1750 weekly), and worked off 250 calories daily (1750 weekly), you'd lose one pound that week. Which is a healthy and sensible way to lose weight. Rather than drastically attempting to adjust to your body's changes doing it slowly but surely will help the body to adapt and you'll be more likely to have long-term success.

Remember that other factors may come into play as well, some weeks you'll lose more weight than others. And the time of the day that you weigh yourself also matters, for example, whether you weigh yourself before or after a meal should be consistent.

Fiber keeps you moving

Upping your fiber consumption is another simple method to speed losing weight, for several reasons. First, consuming high-fiber foods helps you feel fuller longer so you aren't tempted to overeat. Fiber also helps to keep blood sugar levels much more consistent so there's less swings in blood glucose levels, thus helping your eating habits and making weight loss easier. Fiber also helps to get rid of waste, cholesterol and other toxins. Your body can't digest fiber so it basically just moves through your body while taking all of that stuff with it and getting rid of it as waste.

Make an attempt to reduce stress

Finally dealing with your stress levels better could also enable you to lose weight faster. Stress increases the cortisol in your body which in turn helps the build up of abdominal fat. In today's fast-paced life-style it can be tough to try and stay completely stress free, but it is possible to help to deal with it better so that it doesn't wreak havoc on your system. You can try meditating and doing deep breathing exercises or something like yoga or tai chi that causes you to breath more relaxed. Other types of physical exercise such as walking, jogging, swimming, etc. also tends to be stress busters that will help you to calm down.
